Eric Carle Inspired Collages. With this project we looked at the technique Eric Carle uses to devise his famous children illustration books, such as Hungry Little Caterpillar and Brown Bear Brown Bear. we started by painting sheets of white paper with a variety of color and making collage paper. then we cut the paper out in a specific way to develop a scene and devise a picture. i devised a blue book, on a rug, by a tree on a hill side, during the late evening of the day.
This could be an awesome year round filler activity. children love to pull out paper and just paint and have there imagination go wild and this fills that perfectly. any down time the teacher can pull out some paint quick shoot it on some paper plates and tell them to paint color collages. with those color collages the students can practice this art making skill with any subject matter. EG math make numbers out of the paper
