OMG MACRAME MADDNESS! Really exciting lesson on macrame this week, first time ever to learn how to create this wonderful jewelry. we learned the history of macrame and how ship men way back in the day would use to pass the time. they taught us the two different ways to braid, either strait or swirled along with including beads within the braiding.
     this would be great activity in the middle a large unit involving old sailors. The unit would consist of learning about life on the seas back then, how long ship travel took compared to how long it takes now, how ships were developed back then. the students would learn about hardships of life at sea and why this helped pass the time so well.
